This is a letter from a young model who wants to start her career. Any suggestions for her? I would love to have your input in the comments box. Thanks!!
Question:
Mr Pardue,
I really dont know if you read these at all, but I have been interested in modeling since i was very young, and now at the age of 17, I feel my chance may pass me by.
I was accepted by Barbizon Modeling Co., but never followed through with it, as money was a problem, and then I had an interview with Blanch B. Evans from ID and she gave me a chance to work with her, but again money came between me and that chance.
I am unsure if I have what it takes to be a model, and would love the chance to just exchange a few words with you, just to fill a couple blank spots I have! Any feed-back or communication would be more than greatly appreciated!
Hoping to hear back from you.
thank you so very much,
Kortnie

Answer:
Hi Kortnie,
Thank you for your email. As I am a model portfolio photographer by trade, I am not able to do one on one consulting due to the time factor but I do have a couple of suggestions to help you get started.
First, and I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT pay money to an agency. The one’s who charge fees upfront will not help you to get jobs. Their money is made from the fees models pay and they have no intention of getting you work.
With that said, there are some legitimate agents out there. You have to search them out because they will not contanct you nor will they approach you at the mall.
So, after you practice and get some photos done, it becomes partially a numbers game. Call as many agents as possible and ask first if they charge upfront fees. If so, call the next one. It’s simple but there is work involved.
What I would like for you to do is start at the beginning and read all the info listed at ..

These will give you a big headstart. Hope this helps and I wish you lots of success!!
Best,
Bob
