Model is Caitlyn

This is a frequent question I receive so thought I’d post my opinion and ask for your help by making suggestions for this young lady. She asked “how tall is a runway model” which is almost always the same answer.

If you can think of anything to help Josephine please let her know your thoughts, suggestions and comments below. Thanks!!

How Tall is a Runway Model?

hey!!!! I am josephine and i am 16 years old. My height is 5′2 and I’m interested in modeling.
Yes yes yes, i understand that i am VERY short but i can make up for that with my bubbly personality and very wide smile.
I would love to do runway modeling because i am good with heels and can walk in any style asked for.
Thanks!!!

About high fashion runway models

Hi Josephine,
Thank you for your email. To be realistic, at 5′2″ you might want to consider looking into commercial modeling rather than runway. Most runway models are at least 5′9″ or taller with a very small frame.

No matter how great you look the height will come into play.

Commercial models are facing less competition and have a greater lattitude when it comes to height, weight and look. These agencies look for high energy and personality so, if you have these attributes, give it a try.

Still, make sure that your Mom or Dad is involved with every step of the process when talking to talent agents or photographers. Always take someone with you to interviews or photo shoots.
Best,
Bob

I am 7′0″ without heels. My shoe size is 20 mens. I really want to be a runway model. I am so tall. I am very skinny. I get mistaken for a boy all the time. There is a boy in my school who is 5′6″ and he really wants to be a runway model. He wants to be at least 5′10″. He is only 17. I know a man who is 6′0″ and he was 5′6″ when he was 17.

and im only 5′2″ and i would want to a runway model
all the agencies say im too short, but i need to do this
    this is my calling!

  10. Taylor Says:

I am 5′6” and I really want to be a model, but since my height isn’t tall enough, I wanted to consider Victoria’s Secret modeling because I think it would be fun and I have a really bubbly personailty. Would Victoria’s Secret be a good choice for me?

    • bobpardue Says:

Taylor, not that it’s impossible but VS seems to lean toward taller models too. Commercial modeling is not quite so picky if you’re good at expressions and have a good personality.

Hi, I’m about 5.7″ and I’m 14 years old, about 115lbs, 31.5″ hips. Would I be better for commercial or runway? I was looking at this website (theharmonagency.com) and this is what was on the open calls page:

    Fashion Models: (Females) ages 14 – 23 yrs., heights 5′6″ – 5′11″ hips no larger than 34″

Thank you so much, also any and all tips about modeling overall would be great!

    Jamila

The best answer is to apply to a few agencies (have your parents make the contacts) and see where they feel you would be best fitted.
