Hi,
By now you know how much I love giving good advice to models, don’t you?
Now It’s YOUR TURN!!!
I’ve been thinking about some new ideas and thought that maybe the best place to come up with fresh thoughts about modeling is from you. You are the model working in the field everyday and sometimes see things from a different perspective than an old photographer like me so I’d love to hear your thoughts.
And, don’t think because you are new that you don’t have anything to contribute. You do!!
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
- What’s the best way you’ve found to contact an agency?
- Should you ever use an agency or practice as a freelance model?
- How did an agency interview go and what would you have done different?
- What types of modeling do you find most enjoyable? Easiest? Most profitable?
- How did you learn (or are learning) to model? classes? photographers? agencies?
- What is the one most important piece of advice you’d give to a new model?
- What is the biggest No-No in modeling
- How many photos do you have in your portfolio?
- How many photos do you need in your portfolio?
- How many photographers did you work with before you “got it”?
- What books or magazines would you reccommend to models?
- Have you found body or facial blemishes to be a hinderence in modeling?
- Have you found body weight or height to be a problem or asset?
- What type modeling have you done? runway? catalog? fashion? glamour? parts? plus-size? lifestyle and stock? advertising? Give your best advice on any type modeling and the downside.
There are many other bits and pieces of advice that new models would love to know. Anything you can think of will be of great help to someone else.
Together, we can create a community that we can be proud of.
Remember Yoda from Star Wars? He said, “Give, then take.”
A good rule for all.
Now, what do you do?
Just go to the comment box below to share your wisdom about fashion, glamour, art or runway modeling.
And, check back to see who else has written a paragraph or two. You may even discover something new which will help you in your modeling career.
I really could use your help in creating success for all the models who visit the site so please comment in the box today or email me with your comments for future blogs.
Better still, if you have a question you’d like to ask concerning modeling or photography, just ask. I, or one of the models will do our best to help.
Thanks!! – Bob, bobpardue.com

I’ve been modeling for the past 2 years, I am 17..
I have done a few runways but mostly comercials and photoshoots.
The most important piece of advice i have to give is don’t commit to a crummy agency.
If you are serious about modeling, just do freelancing, make friends with production and advertising companies till a really good and profitable company comes along…
Basically because, if you sign with a lame agency and a good offer comes along, you can’t just go for it, coz ur already taken, plus its wayyyy more profitable freelancing, no one is taking a percentage of what you make!

To goddess7, or anyone who could help, what would be the steps to promote ourselves as freelancers, instead of giving part of our profits to agencies, anyone?
